Westar scholar and Bible Search and Rescue Director, Dr. Susan "Elli" Elliott, put together a video (below) about the Galli, a group of self-castrated people in the ancient Roman Era. She connects this to the idea of transgender resistance. She asks, what did resistance look like thousands of years ago, and what impact might the past have on today? Dr. Elliott and Westar scholar Deborah Niederer Saxon lead JSOR events on the topic of gender and resistance in antiquity.
As Marketing and Digital Education Director from 2017-2019, Alexis Waggoner worked closely with Westar’s Marketing Committee and Executive Director to advance the presence and value of Westar in our culture. She was instrumental in getting Westar active on social media and helped Westar transition to the use of digital media in public education.
