Lori Brandt Hale is Professor of Religion and Philosophy and Division Chair for Humanities and Fine Arts at Augsburg University in Minneapolis, MN. She serves as the President of the International Bonhoeffer Society – English Language Section and is the co-editor with W. David Hall of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Theology, and Political Resistance (June 2020), the second book in the Lexington Book series “Faith and Politics: Political Theology in a New Key.” Her chapter in this book, a constructive read of Bonhoeffer’s work, is titled, “The Interfaith Imperative: How Bonhoeffer Compels Interfaith Action.” In addition, Brandt Hale and Hall are now serving as the co-editors of the “Faith and Politics” series.
Brandt Hale is the co-author of Bonhoeffer for Armchair Theologians (Westminster John Knox, 2009) and has written numerous articles and book chapters on Bonhoeffer’s political resistance, understanding of vocation, and relevance in contemporary times. In 2021 and 2022, she offered Westar Webinars on Dietrich Bonhoeffer, exploring his opposition to Christian nationalism and his concept of religionless Christianity.
