Lane McGaughy
is the Geo. H. Atkinson Professor of Religious and Ethical Studies and chairs both the Religious Studies Department and Classical Studies program at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. He is the author of two books and numerous scholarly articles in academic journals and anthologies. The former president and executive secretary of the Pacific Northwest Region of the American Academy of Religion and Society of Biblical Literature, he has worked with his mentor, Robert W. Funk, on a series of projects, including a Greek grammar, the establishment of the Religious Studies Department at the University of Montana, the founding of Scholars Press, the development of Polebridge Press and Westar Institute, and the reorganization of the Society of Biblical Literature. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Alton L. Collins Retreat Center and directs its annual Summer Institute of Biblical Studies for ministers and lay persons. Dr. McGaughy is an ordained United Methodist minister.
